Manchester NH Area Information
Manchester is the largest city in New Hampshire and the largest city in northern New England. The city is situated in south-central New Hampshire in Hillsborough County along the Merrimack River. Manchester has the nickname, "Queen City", which refers to the fact that it has the largest population in the state but it is not the capital city. In 2009, Forbes ranked Manchester as the cheapest place to live in New England due its low cost of living and affordable housing.

Manchester is also filled with historical landmarks and cultural venues such as; The Currier Museum of Art, featuring works of Picasso, Matisse, Monet and O'Keeffe, Manchester Historic Association, Millyard Museum, the historic Palace Theatre, opened in 1915, and Valley Cemetery, which has been the resting place of numerous prominent citizens such as the Governor of New Hampshire, Frederick Smyth. Other attractions in the city include NH Fisher Cats Baseball Stadium, Massabesic Audubon Center with Lake Massabesic, SEE Science Center, which is an interactive learning center with hands-on exhibits, and Derryfield Country Club with an 18-hole golf course.
